Couponie Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 28, 2026
This policy explains what information Couponie accesses, how it is used and stored, and how the app may pass information to external apps when you choose to do so.
The Japanese Privacy Policy is the authoritative version. If a translated version differs in interpretation, the Japanese version applies.
1. Information stored by the app
- Coupon information you register, such as title, notes, start date, expiration date, store name, coupon code, usage link, usage channel, planned date, and status
- Coupon images you take or select
- App settings, including notification and map app preferences
- Status information needed to check whether on-device extraction features are available, such as Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models on iOS or Android AI Core on Android builds
2. Purpose of use
- To register, display, edit, delete, sort, and search coupons
- To read and structure coupon details from coupon images
- To show notifications about coupon start dates and expiration dates
- To open map search or web search from a store name when you choose to do so
- To save settings and show guidance based on device capabilities
- To understand minimal app usage signals for product improvement and issue awareness
3. External transmission and linked services
Couponie does not send coupon images or OCR text to cloud AI services in the App Store version. Coupon detail extraction is handled by supported on-device capabilities.
- Map search may pass a store name to Apple Maps, Google Maps, or a web map
- Web search may pass a store name to a browser or search service
- Couponie may send minimal analytics events to Aptabase to understand basic app usage. The transmitted data may include event names, operating system type, locale, app version/build number, and a session ID. Coupon titles, store names, expiration dates, coupon codes, usage links, usage channels, images, OCR text, notes, and other registered coupon contents are not sent. Because events are transmitted over the network, Aptabase may handle the IP address associated with the request.
- The in-app help screen displays HTML bundled inside the app and does not connect to an external website just to display help content
- Adding or configuring a planned date calendar event happens only after you choose to do so, and writes an event to a calendar on your device
4. Permissions
- Camera: used to take coupon images for registration and reading
- Photo library / storage: used to select images on your device for registration and reading
- Notifications: used to show reminders for coupon start dates and expiration dates
- Calendar: used only when you choose to add or configure planned date events on your device calendar
5. Storage, retention, and deletion
- Coupon information, images, and settings are stored on your device
- When you delete a coupon, its coupon information is deleted from the app database
- Used coupons are automatically deleted 180 days after the used date, and expired coupons are automatically deleted 180 days after the expiration date during a later app launch
- Images in the app-managed area become cleanup targets after they are no longer referenced by coupons
- Settings remain until you delete the app, change the settings, or reset them
- If you uninstall the app, app data stored on the device is deleted according to the operating system behavior
6. Your controls
- You can add, edit, and delete coupon information and coupon images in the app
- You can change notification settings in the app settings screen
- Because coupon data is stored on your device, the developer cannot directly view, edit, delete, or restore your registered coupon data
